Hamid Ahmed Khan was the third son of Badrunnisa Begum and
Ghulam Mohammed
Khan Saudagar
(died in 1943,
Picture)
of Aurangabad.
He was born in 1926, in the village, Amkini, in
the Pusad, Taluka, in
the Yavatmal
District,
Maharashtra,
India
(National Emblem).
Hamid Ahmed Khan had five brothers, two sisters and several more siblings,
who died at a young age. The brothers: Khaleel Ahmed Khan, Mahmood Ahmed Khan,
Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Manzoor Ahmed Khan and Irshad Ahmed Khan.
The sisters: Aziza Khanam and Durdana Khanam.
The eldest brother, Khaleel Ahmed Khan (died in November 1987, Picture).
He was blessed with four sons: Shakeel Ahmed Khan, Rais Ahmed Khan,
Najam Ahmed Khan (died on 26 October 2010, 17 Ziquad 1431) and Afeef Ahmed Khan,
and two daughters: Sameena Khan (died in March 1996, Ramadan 1417) and
Fareha Khan (died on 21 April 2016, 12 Rajab 1437).
Mahmood Ahmed Khan (died in December 1998, Picture) was married to
Maleka Khanum. They blessed with
four sons: Junaid Ahmed Khan, Avez Ahmed Khan,
Sohail Ahmed Khan (Picture)
and Suhaib Ahmed Khan (alias Guddu),
and four daughters: Nadera Khan, Tahira Khan, Humaira Khan and Zakera Khan.
Manzoor Ahmed Khan was a skilled and enterprising engineer.
He taught Mechanical Drawing at
Saboo Siddik Engineering College
(Logo), Mumbai.
He started the manufacturing the instruments required to measure the
flow and pressure of fluids. In 1967, he established the industry
by name Dieform Engineers, in Kalyan.
The Rotameters, Manometers and other instruments made
Dieform Engineers are in
great demand by both industries and the academic institutions.
Manzoor Ahmed Khan (died on Friday the 25 April 2008, 18th Rabbi-us-Sani 1429, Picture)
was married to Zeba Khan, They are blessed with one son Farid Ahmed Khan
(Picture)
and one daughter Najia Khan.
Najia married a doctor and is blessed with one daughter Neema and one son Altaf.
Farid Ahmed Khan married Rashiqua and they are blessed with two sons Kamil Ahmed Khan and Rahil Ahmed Khan.
Kamil Ahmed Khan is married to Saima Sadaf Khan the daughter of Sohail Ahmed Khan.
Farid Ahmed Khan is now carrying forward the Dieform Engineers,
established by his father.
Aijaz Ahmed Khan was the most enterprising among the children of
Ghulam Mohammed
Khan Saudagar.
He did engineering from Osmania University
(OU,
Logo), Hyderabad, with dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering
and Geological Engineering. This gave him an edge over many others.
He worked at Bhabha
Atomic Research Centre
(BARC ,
Logo),
MUMBAI (BOMBAY).
Aijaz Ahmed Khan (died on Friday the 19 November 1982, Picture) was married to
Zehra Khan. They are blessed with one son

Khan) and two daughters (Baby Khan and Naima Khan).
Durdana Khan married Zawwar Mohammed Khan.
Zawwar Mohammed Khan did BA and MA in English from the

ALIGARH.
He started his long and distinguished teaching carrier as a lecturer in
Jamia
Millia Islamia
(Central University,
Logo),
New Delhi and
Osmania University
(OU,
Logo), Hyderabad.
Zawwar Mohammed Khan later joined as Professor and Head of the English
Department at the Maulana Azad College, Aurangabad.
Durdana Khan and Zawwar Mohammed Khan were blessed with two sons,

and Umair Mohammed Khan; and three daughters,
Farhana Khan, Rubina Khan and Romana Khan.
Farhana
Khan is
Reader and Head, Department of English, Maulana Azad College, Aurangabad.
Farhana Khan is married to Professor Farhat and they have one daughter
and one son. Rubina Khan and Romana Khan are both Lecturers and married to Lecturers.
Durdana Khan died in March 1983 and Zawwar Mohammed Khan died in March 1989.
Azeeza Khan is blessed with one son (Rahil Khan) and three daughters (Asma Khan, and ).
Hamid Ahmed Khan came from a tribe, which had a long tradition in learning and teaching.
His cousin, Janab Ahmed Shah Khan Saheb

Picture-2)
was the Patriarch among Teachers.
Hamid Ahmed Khan did MSc in Industrial Chemistry from
Osmania University
(OU,
Logo), Hyderabad, in 1948.
He enrolled in the PhD Programme but quit after a year.
Throughout his stay in Hyderabad, Hamid Ahmed Khan was actively associated with the
Circles for the Study of the Quran
(Halqua Mutalai Quran). These Study Circles, which boasted
many eminent members, are still functioning. They drew scholars from
Department of Arabic,
Department of History
and the
Department of Islamic Studies,
of Osmania University
(OU,
Logo), among other institutions.
Thus Hamid Ahmed Khan, was able to interact one-to-one with renowned Islamic Scholars
including:
Manazir Ahsan
Gilani,
Abu Nasr Muhammad Khalidi,
among many others. The contemporary scholars include,
Shahid Ali Abbasi

Rector of
the Centre for Islamic Education
(Logo), Hyderabad.
After quitting the PhD Programme at
Osmania University
(OU,
Logo), Hyderabad,
Hamid Ahmed Khan spent six months in
Bhiwandi, with the renowned scholar,
Abdul Wahid Samad Narvil (Rehmahumalla), to learn Arabic.
Abdul Wahid Samad Narvil (Rehmahumalla) was from Saudi Arabia and the Founder President of the
Aqsa Education Society, located in
Bhiwandi (an industrial city, 48km northeast of
Mumbai (Bombay)).
He spent several years at Mumbai (Bombay),
with jobs in the pharmaceutical and industries handling the plant-based oils.
During this period he got to interact with several prominent Islamic Scholars, including
Shams Pirzada
of the Idara Dawatul Quran (famous for the Translation and Commentary,
Dawatul Quran).
Hamid Ahmed Khan worked as a researcher in several laboratories including the
CSIR
(Council of Scientific and Industrial Research,
Logo)
and the
Regional Research Laboratory
(since 1989, known as,
Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, IICT,
Logo).
He worked as Quality Control Chemist in numerous organizations. With a command
of the German Language and a working knowledge of French he was abreast with the latest
developments in the world of chemistry. He tried to implement the best practices in the
chemical industry
(quality of the manufactured goods in particular) often leading to conflict with the
owners of the industries. Consequently he had a very frequent change of jobs.
In his fifty year carrier, his longest tenure (fourteen years) was at
Hamdard (Wakf) Laboratories
(Logo),
situated in the Lal Kuan, Old Delhi.
Hamid Ahmed Khan devised many novel chemical techniques.
He had two patents and several publications.
In 1960, Hakim
Abdul
Hameed
(Picture) invited
Hamid Ahmed Khan, to establish the Quality Control Laboratory of the
Hamdard (Wakf) Laboratories
(Logo).
His knowledge of Arabic and Persian came in handy, in referring to the
classical texts of Unani medicine.
His knowledge of German and French languages enabled him to keep abreast with the
norms prevalent in European countries.
The quality control lab of Hamid Ahmed Khan, was known for its integrity and high
quality standards. By virtue of the good reputation, many of the technicians and
chemists he trained, were sought after. The numerous personnel trained by
Hamid Ahmed Khan were absorbed in the pharmaceutical industries in India and abroad.
Hamid Ahmed Khan also worked for few years in Saudi Arabia in the pharmaceutical and petroleum industries.
He also worked for several years in petroleum and refinery plants in Libya.

She was laid to rest in the Qabrastan/Makbara (Graveyard)
close to the Masjid Zaweyah

on the 23 July Street of
Salalah.
Nighat Iqbal Khan's youngest brother,

deserves a special mention. He was the youngest son of

Zafar
was under the supervision of renowned Phycologist & Ecologist, Professor Mahendar Raj Suxena

He was the first person from the progeny of

not only to do PhD, but the first one to go to College.
Professor Dr. A R Zafar
retired as the Head of the
Department of
Botany, in 1986.
Nawab Abdul Rafeeq Zafar had cancer with
metastasis (including: liver, portal vain, gall-bladder and lungs).
He died at 6:53 on the morning of Sunday the 17 July 2011 (14 Shabaan 1432) at his residence in
Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
When he breathed his last,
his wife, niece Bushra Khan, nephew, Sameen Ahmed Khan
(Picture) and his wife, Noama Khan
(Picture) were present by his side.
The Salaat-ut-Janaza (Funeral Prayers) took place after Maghrib, at Masjid Rahmat-e-Alam, Road No. 11,
Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.
The Salaat-ut-Janaza was conducted by

in the Qabrastan/Makbara (Graveyard) attached to the Masjid Hazrat-e-Bilal,
Habshiguda, Hyderabad,

Professor Abdul Rafeeq Zafar's eldest sister, Khurshid Begum (died in December 1994) and her husband Syed Iqbal Ilyas (died in May 1990) were also
laid to rest in the same Qabrastan/Makbara (Graveyard).

Nighat Iqbal Khan completely recovered from breast cancer in 2006.

Nuclear Grade 2
breast cancer.
In the last seventeen months of her life she was hospitalized seven times in the
Sultan Qaboos Hospital,
Salalah,
Sultanate
of
Oman.
This was for her weak heart condition. The last month of her life
she was semi-conscious and was fed by the Gastro Nasal Tube,
Sultan Qaboos Hospital.
She breathed her last on 7:12 PM
just after Maghrib (sunset) on Saturday the 23 May 2009 (29 Jumadi-al-Awwal 1430, had just begun)
with her son,
Farooq Ahmed
Khan
(alias Zaki) by her side.
The end was smooth without any medical interventions (respirators, ventilators, lung machines etc.).
On Monday the 25 May 2009 (30 Jumadi-al-Awwal 1430), she was laid to rest in the Qabrastan/Makbara (Graveyard)
close to the Masjid Zaweyah
(see the Map)
on the 23 July Street of
Salalah.
During the last six months of his life, Hamid Ahmed Khan had a medically challenging time.
Thrice he had Paralytic Stroke, accompanied with severe muscular weakness, making him
loose his very independent lifestyle, which was characteristic of him. He was hospitalized four
times in the
Sultan Qaboos Hospital,
Salalah,
Sultanate
of
Oman.
During this period of severe muscular weakness, he was assisted by Pathan Mohammed Ali Khan
(born, 1964, Picture).
He enjoyed the company of the Pathan.
The last five days of his life, he was semi-conscious and was fed by the Gastro Nasal Tube,
at the
Sultan Qaboos Hospital.
He breathed his last at 9:13 AM on Monday the 6 July 2009 (13 Rajab 1430), with his elder daughter Ayesha Khan;
youngest son, Sameen Ahmed Khan; the eldest grandchild,
Ikhlas Mohammed Khan (son of Ayesha Khan); and the Pathan Mohammed Ali Khan by his side.
The end was smooth without any medical interventions (respirators, ventilators, lung machines etc.).
He died forty-four days after the death of his wife, Nighat Iqbal
Khan.
On Wednesday the 8 July 2009 (16 Rajab 1430, had just begun), he was laid to rest in the Qabrastan/Makbara (Graveyard)
close to the Masjid Zaweyah
(see the Map)
on the 23 July Street of
Salalah. All the three sons,
Mohammed Ahmed Khan (alias Baba),
Farooq Ahmed Khan (alias Zaki) and
Sameen Ahmed Khan performed the last rites.
The Family and Progeny of Mr. Hamid Ahmed Khan shall ever remain
indebted and grateful to the staff of the
